I my haste to put the head back on, I forgot about this piece of sheetmetal. Where does it go? Looking from the top of the engine at at turbo area, it doeas not seem to fit anywhere.

That is the downpipe brace, it goes from the bottom side of the exhaust manifold to just above the flex (AAZ) or toilet bowl (1.6TD)

That piece goes right behind the intake manifold. It goes under the two nuts that hold on the neck of the intake.

BYM is right on the money. And the purpose of that piece is solely for supporting the turbo oil feed line.
