its straight, but its nothing special.. yes, i think $3300 is a bit steep..

my grandpa has the SAME truck, but an LX with black interior, and a/c. he picked it up for 500 bucks.. but that was 5 engines ago..

look for rust, a local guy had a nice 80 caddy, flawless original paint with only 60,000 miles on it, and the a arm mounts were so rusty the a arm eventually pulled off while driving :o :o :o

look at all the suspension mounting points, the floor boards, and especially the strut towers.  these trucks are extremely prone to rust

if rust is at a minimum, i think 3300 is steep but some what fair as long as its in good running order thats not too awful.

It looks like the OP is in AZ. So probably not much rust. 1980 models in particular are prone to more rust problems than any other year caddy. but yes, look for rust. In that area of the country, it is not hard to find very nice specimens. Unfortunately, the interior usually has taken a beating from the sun. 3300 is a little steep, but if there is nothing at all wrong with it (have it checked out by a specialist, or if you know what to look for, check it out thoroughly) then I think that price is not bad. Of course provided there is NOTHING at all wrong with it..

2k seems fair for that. i bet it needs new strut bearings, timing belt, wheel bearings, etc etc. plus a bunch of dumb *** in it probably doesn't work right like locks and knobs. if you're paying 3k+ it better be restored or have a brand new recaro interior.

for the record i would never pay that much.

my 91 mk2 jetta sold for 1200 and it was decent shape with a clean interior (gas :()

i was thinking more like 1500-1800 max that caddy

It all depends on the geographic location. If its super clean and needs nothing, people on the wrong coast will pay upwards of 6k for it. Meanwhile, people in Mexico will trade two chickens and a 22 pistol for it.

I agree. $3300 would be a very fari price for that truck if it was on the West Coast of Canada!

this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard!!!!

Show me your pile-o-caddys for sale that arent rusty and only need maintenance items for 2k, there aren't any.

3k better be restored? smoke much meth? You couldn't buy a new recarro interior for 3k.

Look around man, these things are 30 years old. It's not like a freaking civic. THEY ARE RARE.

1500?? you guys serious? holy crap, you guys must all be broke and mad you couldn't buy it.

3k is not a steal, but it is a fair price, look at ebay, what ya goona get for 2k as far as a caddy.... won't be driving home for sure.

Nah, I got one dumber. Someone's main reason for driving 3 hours was for an ATA trans and the shop boy taking it and the owner saying he sold it to a customer...And me believing it.

Seriously though I don't like caddy's, but if they are worth that I will probably go by the 2 that aren't that different than this one and make some money. It is and always has been in the eye of the beholder.

well i don't know its rust free. look at the rear passenger fender ...looks like rust to me

the interior looks beat to ***, different tail lights, after looking at the pic the rear end looks tweaked...so 3k....idk seem kinda high

anyway still waiting the owner to call me back......

did the 83 have the 1.6L NA diesel or turbo?

no turbo caddys stock in USA,

Here is another way to look at it:

Have 1.6d professionally rebuilt: 1000 (bare minimum)
New tires :250
5 speed swap: 400
caddy tailgate: 150
caddy 3 piece sliding glass: 150.
new battery: 100

See what I am saying?
Thats already over 2k not to mention that it "gets great mpg" which hopefully means reliable. Any car that gets 40mpg and is reliable is worth at least 1700 in todays "situation."

the thing that u see as a rust is a fender flare on the passenger side rear fender , interior is original and dash would be cracked and i can see the a/c box there. tail lights different and doesn't mean anything as a damaged body etc., the tailgate looks pretty clean from the pic which is very good. Rear bumper needs to be aligned , but still can't make a comment for the rocker panels, floors, strut towers and the bed. If he put 2 or 3 pieces rims on it he would want 5g and more for it as others does ;) Plus if it has a td which i don't really think so price would be somewhere u dont want to believe :) Yes that sound stupid but those are popular small cute pickups.

price is a little step, but not crazy... there is one for sale by me for $2900...

http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/2522508258.html (http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/2522508258.html)

When it says "OBO" a seller usually has some wiggle room in there of a few hundred bucks... I personally wouldn't pay $2900 or $3300, location can play a big part if its not a common for the area though, I won't tell you how much I paid for my Mk2 Diesel (with a/c)...   :P

guys, i just posted up (a while ago) a TD caddy, that was IMMACULATE.. he wanted 10 grand..

thats how much a fully restored caddy goes for, not 3 grand.. 3300 is a bit much for that truck in question tho.. 2500 would be my top dollar..

yea, a full brand new recaro int would be more than 3 grand, unless the owner needed to off it for a bunch of meth..

It is the average for similar looking trucks around here in Florida. Of the two that I could find, one was 3500 and one was 3200.
