Title: measured piston protrusions with dial gauge indicator
Post by: 92EcoDiesel Jetta on July 28, 2011, 08:52:58 am
I carefullythe piston protrusions after cleaning all surfaces and measured the following piston protrusions using a magnetic base dial indicator accurate to 1/10,000"

#1  0.037"
#2  0.038"
#3  0.041"
#4  0.036"

These numbers require a 3 hole head gasket per the Bently. They are not perfectly even and Bently has no spec for it. Does it lookOK?

I buy engine parts from jack
At
Free Vw diesel help
He's in Ohio
He knows these Vw diesels
He will get the right quality parts
I called him when my engine was machined
Told him the protrusion
It was about 0.030 on all
He got me the right gasket
That's the safest way
I later bought a aaz gasket
