Has anyone found a good intercooler kit on the web for a MKII Jetta? I'd like to find one that comes will all of the needed pipes, couplers, and the intercooler and not have to try and source everything separeately. I saw this intercooler kit on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/28x5-5x2-5-Intercooler-Kit-Golf-Jetta/dp/B0042RJLJS/ref=sr_1_30?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1309759769&sr=1-30)? The dimensions are 28"x5.5"x2.5" with a 2" inlet/outlet. I like the looks of this one due to the compactness of the intercooler itself but there is also a kit with 2.5" inlet/outlet but the intercooler is 27"x6"x2.5".

mk2 big bumper? idk if your gonna find a kit specifically for the car.. a universal kit off ebay will probably work tho..

Yeah, MKII big bumpers. I know that others have stuffed big intercoolers inside of a MKII with big bumpers and just wanted more info. A big question I have is do I go with the 2" or 2.5" inlet/outlet intercooler.

i would go 2"
that keeps your tubing smaller, for less volume to fill.. the bigger the piping, the more lag you get because the turbo has a bigger area to pressurize..
2" will be more than adequate..

I have small bumpers. There wasn't really anything left of my core support on the back side, I had to weld support on the front side. A smaller intercooler would fit a ton better. Just be prepared to take the core support out and put back in 53 times to get it to fit right.

I was thinking that the 28"x5.5"x2.5" would be easier to stuff inside the bumper. I think the 5.5" height will be easier to fit and the 28" length looks pretty good but then I saw this (http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CXR&Product_Code=IC-B926&Category_Code=INCO) intercooler on the CXRacing.com site and it's dimensions are 25.5"x5.5"x2.5" with 2" inlet/outlet which is even more compact which might make it even easier to fit. Unfortunately they don't seem to offer the smaller intercooler in a kit form.

You will want the 28 anyway. I was able just to hook my 90 degree elbows up and miss the core support structure to head back to the engine. Narrower and you may have to have a stub piece in between. Either way I think an intercooler is better than no intercooler.

Thanks for that insight on intercooler length. I'll go with the 28"x5.5"x2.5" kit then. Did you see a decrease in max boost pressure due to temperature reduction of the charge air?

Very minimally. With 15 psi intercooled boost you will have more power then with 20 psi non intercooled boost. I have this exact same kit, I got a couple extra 45* couplers to go with it, they make ssembley alot easier. Over all its a good kit but the T-Bolt clamps you get with it are garbage, they snap with the tiniest bit of torque.

Probabley worse since I had a bit more power, my foot was alot heavier.
If you drove normally though, I cant see it changing anything drastically.

Any industiral store or even hydrolic hose/fittings shop usually sells them. Goos ones are a bit pricey though, mine were 7 bucks a piece

Did this size intercooler end up fitting pretty well under the big bumper? I am just curious as I am going to be needing an intercooler soon because I am trying to get a little more "fun" out of my ecodiesel.
Thanks for any help! Trying to make the intercooler install and buy process as simple as possible! Lol, even though I'm sure it'll be hectic finding the piping and everything.
