Keep guessing. I just stole them from the site.

i was thinking malone due to the car, thats great! looks like a stock garrett t3, with a much larger turbo up on top there, look at the size of the bigger turbos wheel compared to the stock t3

He's been working on that for while from what I've heard.

we want more info

Sorry to crash the party ;D That number was achieved 4 years ago (2007). Also, I didn't dyno 192whp in the Golf. The same engine was transferred to my MK2 Jetta, and then everything was sold to a friend (Dave @ Passenger Performance). He finally put the car on a dyno with a large T3/T4 turbo. 192whp was the result. Video proof: http://malonetuning.com/misc/192whp_16td.wmv

ah ok u sold it to dave, i didn't realize how much of those 2 cars were the same. the demise of that engine was a melted swirl chamber correct? any plans of building another idi in the future? what ar the hot side on that turbo, i know the compressor was a 50 trim to4e... and after the machined housing was surging ever an issue?

Dave re-built the engine for 192whp, I have to give him credit for that. I have no idea what the turbo specs were, it has been four years.
As for what killed the engine, apparently #3 injector gradually stuck open and streamed fuel, which caused excessive heat in the prechamber and the pre-cup probably dropped. This occurred while cruising at 80km/h, not while racing. All 3 other cylinders were fine. Shame.

any plans of building another idi in the future?
I highly doubt Dave would. I recently met him for the first time in a few years, and he still drives an older & gasser Mercedes wagon. He's very focused on his fabrication business and isn't interested in another project car. If he has money, he'd rather invest it in tools for his business. He has his own shop with a huge CNC machine, it's pretty cool.
I've been driving a 2006 Jetta TDI DSG for five years now. It's a pretty boring car. Right now I'm building a simple 1996 Golf TDI, but I still miss the damn IDI. I'd love to put a built NA 1.6 (TD longblock with ported head, colt cam, and Giles pump) in a Beetle or a Caddy. I love the linear NA powerband and driving a slow car 'fast' is fun. Can't beat the IDI simplicity and reliability too.
Cheers,
Mark

I wish there was a shop like Malone's in the Hudson valley of NY...
