Title: Oil pump pickup interference with 1.6td oil pump on an n/a pan.
Post by: vdubspeed on May 07, 2011, 05:37:40 pm
So libbybapa was kind of enough to sale me a 1.6 TD oil pump which I noticed tonight was much larger than the stock unit and had a pickup that resembled most of the mk2/3/4 generation of pumps with a removable pickup. Anyway...after installing the pump I went to install the pump and then....interference. One side of the pan would touch but about a 1/4 gap was left on the other side. I just tossed the pan into the press and created a nice area for the oil pickup to suck from.

I was just curious if the turbo pans were formed different on the bottom.

Thanks,

Jason

nah...my 1.5 has the puny pan but my 1.6 has the regular size pan.

the pans are the same depth in the center where the pickup is located.. its just angled more on the sides. the bigger pans are flat on the bottom.
