Title: Water pump idler pulley
Post by: gnavs on April 30, 2011, 09:15:03 am
Which models did this come on?  I've removed the AC on my AAZ and now the Serp belt is running right into my Vbelt water pump.  I've heard there is a double pulley'd water pump out there and I think this is what I need to fix my issue.

well i tried that already and it was interfering with the power steering pumps belt.  It's tough to explain but the pulley itself was in the path of the vbelt for the power steering pump.  I'd love to run everything off of one belt but it doesn't look like that's an option anymore.

How (why) do you have a v belt and serp belt and timing belt?

My eco-diesel B3 came this way. ac alt crank on the serp. water p/s crank on the v-belt.

The original setup for mine had the AC compressor on the serp belt and the water pump and power steering pump on the V belt.  I've removed the AC which causes the serp belt to hang right where the water pump pulley is.
Problem solved (I think):
MK3 2.0's without AC had the water pump serp pulley and doesn't interfere with the v belt like I found with the VR6 pulley.  Only thing is I had to trim some plastic away from the lower timing belt cover to make room for it.
