My 1992 Canadian TD Passat has a 02A, code CEY. It is very difficult to find information about this transmission; essentially these were cars built for the European market but brought over to Canada. I had to figure out the ratios with the help of my parts guy and the European ETKA

Canadian Passat TD AAZ 1991 - 92

02A ratio:

CEY====3.778=2.118=1.345=0.917=0.717=3.944==Passat AAZ

Yeah the one I have is off of a 93 passat and it has cable shift.  I have a 96 car I want to put it in, 1.6 td.  I'd just like to know the gearing if I'm going to have to look for better 5th or if it's good as is; or at least comparable to the 020 that's in it right now.

mine had a cable from stock,but cant remenber the code right now.ecodiesel passat from germany,1994 but still a 35i model.
it was short geared,lack of rev counter wont get me be accurate but i gess it was in the middle of a 4s and 4t.

too short so changed to a tdi gearbox,as the passat had all the stuff needed to a drop in conversion.

I think some of the Passat AAZs had a CHA in them

Either that or the CTN/CHU maybe, because the Zelek list says "1.9L" and not just "TDI".

I'm pretty sure that CTN is only a TDI tranny found on the AHU/1Z TDIs

CTN was a 98 TDI tranny. I have one in my garage, some day it will make it under the hood of my 84 :).

I second that - i finally looked at mine pulled from a 93 passat and it's a CHA as well.

looking at the gearing, what is the chance of getting a used final drive gearing from a corrado or vr6 and certan gasser passat 02a?  Would be nice to drop the rpms a bit.  I want to pull mine apart and redo anything that needs it before I use it, be nice to change the ring gear at that time if I can fine one that's not out of this world $$ wise.
