Title: front seal carrier oil leak
Post by: silvertdvw on March 02, 2011, 12:30:11 pm

My car is leaking a lot of oil out of the two little holes near the top of the front crank seal carrier. Why is it leaking???   ??? it makes a huge mess because it sprays oil directly onto the belts and the higher you rev it, the more oil sprays out as the oil pressure builds. I have approx 12,000kms on a complete rebuild and it just started to leak.

Is it for sure leaking from the holes, or could it be slinging up there from a leaking front seal?  My best guesses on that would either be some variety of issue with the housing itself, such as a crack, or the gasket isn't doing as it should..  Have you tried snugging the bolts a tad more??

Had a similar issue  with my int shaft seal. Eventually i figured out that it was leaking from the oil galley plug tirhg above the int shaft seal carrier. That was a *** to change out with the engine in the car.
