Title: My 1991 VW Golf Pasadena GTD
Post by: Fredrikkk on February 24, 2011, 01:50:15 am
Finally, after reading on this forum for the longest time, I am able to post here. I wanted to know if the Golf Pasadena with the SB engine is a rare car.

Here are some pictures :)

That's how it looked when I got it

Now it's more like this :)

Thanks for any clarification!

Well in North America it's very rare, never imported here by the geniuses at VW marketing

There is no fan under the IC. I don't have any pictures of the engine bay but I have an open filter :)

So I have a question.. I'll be swapping out the exhaust soon, and I'm wondering whether it's better/easier to weld a whole new downpipe versus just doing the toilet bowl-manifold. :)

If you do indeed have the toilet bowl exhaust outlet, then measure the size of it. You will see that it's large enough that you can have a large downpipe etc to let the engine breathe
properly

What I'm wondering is whether it's enough to just weld on a 2.5" pipe to the toilet bowl instead of at the turbo.

I put in the weighted shift rod from a MK3 the other day and what a difference! I love the solid feel. I'm also going to start thinking about the gov mod soon as it's getting a a little bit warmer :)

Approved?

I personally think it looks sick as hell!

I rubbed and polished the entire car today so it's finally tornado red, and not salmon pink :D

And at last, a picture of my buddy's '86 1.8 and my Pasadena :)

How ironic, the Golf Pasadena was never available anywhere near the city for which it is named...

Anyway, you have some nice cars there.

What is the Pasadena anyway, how is it different from a regular Golf?

Thanks :D

The Pasadena was a model which essentially helped VW clear out the last MK2 bits they had laying around. It came with small bumpers in a time of big bumpers, it had a plastic CL dash and a funky interior. My car is special because it has the SB engine.. Other than that, it's still a Golf MK2. :)

We never got the Pasadena model in the UK. Looks very similar to a standard spec UK GTD, which were pretty much identical to the driver apart from the engine. SB is the code I have in my GTD too :)

SB is definitely the way to go!

I'm getting my K24 in about a weeks time, so I'll be posting some pics of the process as I remove the old hairdryer and install the new blowdryer  ;D

No K24 yet as the money won't stretch that far...

However, I made money stretch for a new interior! Golf Sport interior, and it's pretty!  ::)

It matches pretty well with the stock Pasadena doorcards.  :D

That's all for now!

I like those seats! We never got them over here. Look just like GTI seats but with a different pattern.

The Golf Sport was a special model for Norway... It had the seats I have, small bumpers, arches, round steelies and some other things I don't remember..  ???
