Post by: jaysen71581 on February 21, 2011, 01:50:28 pm
Whats a good egt gauge to get and is it best to mount after the turbo or off the cylinder before the turbo, ive got the manifold off the car  now so might as well do this one too, also anyone know of any dual A-pilar gauge pods for our Wabbits lol...

Great writeup(s) on this in the FAQ section...   ;) ;D

You can also search for "Aircraft Spruce" and find some good references.

no real custom fit gauges yet this is a mk1 from a guy here in this forum.

I have a westach from Vince Walden. He had some for sale, but I just checked and he has sold them all. I would check ebay for them it looks like the part number you want is 10-01268 it is a a single egt 2c2

I have an autometer EGT gauge and the aircraft spruce 1/8th EGT probe. There is a thread in the FAQ, like vincet said,
that shows the reaction times of the differnt probes. The aircraft spruce probe is the fastest and best reacting of them all. The best place to put the probe is in the exhaust manifold.

What happens when the three digit EGT gauge reaches 999F.. does it keep going and only tell you the first three numbers of your EGT.

just be careful, the mk1 test pod is still mounted up in my car.. so they are definitely not ready..

and if you have a mk2 with straight windshield trim, the mk2 pod will not work without mods to the top corner of it.

My Auto Meter Cobalt shines with a purdy light, and seems to work great.

I like the VDO vision black series. I just ordered the egt, water, and boost for the Eco, and am pretty sure I am gonna upgrade the lighting to the green LED's from newsouth to match the stock gauge cluster.

Search Ebay for EGT, there's a guy who sells a digital one. Just upgrade to the better thermocouple that they offer. Reacts extremely fast and its digital accurate.

google auber instruments and you get their website.
lots of good stuff there, I have an EGT and Boost from them.

best part is that they have two alarms that you can set the trigger points for that can be used to switch other things(trigger water meth based on EGT anyone?)
