hey all bin reading this forum for quite a while now but struggling with my conversion?
i have taken out the engine from the golf no real problems there its just the fusebox do i need to take out the whole loom from under the bonnet or just bits and bobs ? and in that case what should i take out. im getting alot of conflicting information in regards to what should come out ? some saying that you can use most of the the petrol loom and should just plug into the sensors of the diesel engine ? and just use the the part of the loom for the glow plug and the fuel pump solenoid part of it ? do i have to take everything out of the fusebox from the mk3? is there any thread or a faq of exactly how too do this conversion? i need to get the mk3 out before monday so what should i take out before i take it too the breakers ?

Posting your question in two places is a waste of time, info will be scattered around and most people that read in general also read in troubleshooting.
I have nothing useful to say except welcome to the forum ;)
-
hey sorry i thought it would get more exposure that way should i delete this one because the post better suited in the trouble shooting ?
thanks for the welcome by the way :)
-
No worries, one of the mods will probably combine them both anyways.
You can delete you own posts but I think only the mods can delete or move a topic.
If I had any experiance doing what you're doing I would post something worthwhile ::)

Yup... duplicate post deleted... this is a small family so no need to spam 'er for extra coverage ;)

Don't gut the harness yet. Get your engine installed and see what you need to run it. You'll definately need to pimp your plugs, and power the car, so you'll need the ignition wires and headlights and horn. I'd suggest more or less instead of cutting the wires right off coil them neatly and cap them off so they don't short out. The biggest mistake guys make is hacking and slashing, then having to rewire runs. This is not only time consuming but fugly.

ok yea that makes sens but i was keeping all of the mk2 headlight loom in place i was just wondering what else i would need to get the diesel too start ? i found this information which i found interesting ?
"I have an aaz in my mk2. it was the easiest transplant i ever did. Switched power fused line for pump solenoid and plug in your heater relay and take a wire from position Z1 spade at bottom right rear of fuse box, alu fuse it and bring to heater plugs. I bought a kit from germany which i am currently fitting to mine which includes a new aneroid pin for the injector pump and a variable pressure regulator for the turbo and a mercedes sprinter intercooler complete with all pipe work which is reported to up power to the 120 mark. More info on vw gtd website."
i get what he means by the heater plug wiring ive done that allready but i was wondering where i have to plug in the glow plug solenoid into the fuse box ? and what is power fused line ?

Get a bosch universial glow plug kit:
relay, wires to glow plug's, fast glow plug's
three wires and your done, 45.00 pounds
mine starts in a 1/2 turn after glow plug light goes off

ive done the glow plug side of things but just i dont know where the injection pump solenoid is ? is it the blue connector on the pump.?
-
can anyone tell me what the IP solenoid is and what it looks like ?
-
There are various versions of the AAZ pump...might be best if you take a picture or two and then we can be more definitive?
The reason to see pictures is that there's an easy version of the AAZ (only 1 wire required) and then a hard version more common un Europe (basically, the engine also needs all the electronic smarts)... a picture will help.
The generic answer is that the fuel solenoid is the small brass cylinder on the driver's side of the injection pump... it threads into the high-pressure distributor block that the hi pressure lines feed out of.

i believe this is a KO3 ? are they any good ? im assuming i should be swapping it for a k24??
i was thinking of swapping the inlet side of it for inlet from a 2.9td merc turbo which is as KO3 they should be interchangable ?
the car is in my dads garage 50 miles away so i go there most weekends took the engine out last weekend what a pain it didnt really wanna come out.
does anyone need any bits and bobs give me a shout we should be able to sort something out.
i should be getting the 1.6 out of the mk2 this weekend coming
bought quite a few service parts is there anything i should do while the engines out ??
ive bin emailing regcheeseman and hes been giving me loads of info on the swap top bloke !
have a look tell me what you think :)
