Title: 1.9td prices?
Post by: aximiliei on February 01, 2011, 06:19:21 pm
Hey, I'm curious in the southern/central ontario region how much aaz's are going for these days. I have pulled the old tired 1.6NA out of my rabbit and looking for a replacement and trying to decide if i should go for a stock swap or depending on cost a 1.9td for a little extra power. I'm coming up a little short on my search's on getting a decent ball park price. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Aaron

Here you go.

$1000 gets you the whole car, new fuel pump, recon starter. Part it out, or slap the tired 1.6 in it for a running shell to sell for $500 ;) Bobs your uncle.

$1500 gets you an AHU TDI. Slightly more involved swap.. Not to bad of a swap really, I can help you out with quite a few questions if you want. I'm mid TDI swap in to my 81 as we speak. :) PM ME!

Yes... on an MK1 the passenger side motor mount is part of the injection pump bracket... not so on the AAZ (MK3) config.

When I get home tonight I'll track down a good thread on what's needed to put an AAZ in an MK1 platform:

This is the thread I was thinking of... it's a 1.6 MK2 motor but it's all the same stuff that would need to be done for a AAZ as well.... motor mount(s) and exhaust being the two biggest differences... and both easily surmountable.
