Title: Hi temp epoxy?
Post by: rallydiesel on November 20, 2010, 09:49:57 pm
Anybody know of any high temp epoxy? I have a odd location for a leak. The timing belt side upper exhaust manifold stud hole in the cylinder head is leaking oil. Looks like someone stripped it at some point and it has created a hole into the internals of the cylinder head. JB weld is good to 500F but I think I will need something a little more heat resistant considering the proximity to the exhaust port.

Is the stud hole still stripped or has it been repaired and will take proper torque, but still leaks oil?

It's got some wiggle. It does need to be fixed at some point but I have an AAZ head that will ultimately be going on. I just need something to stop the leak for now.

the treads in the head will only get as hot as the engine gets plus abit because it close the the exhast manifold but epoxy would work fine just clean out the hole with some brake clean and go for it.
