Title: New Member To My Diesel Family
Post by: cyrus #1 on October 27, 2010, 09:51:57 pm
Hey Guys,

I've been looking for a newer car for a while to replace my '90 gas jetta.  Of course it had to be a VW and I really wanted a diesel.  So I just picked up a 2000 TDI jetta.  It has 275,000km on it but it is immaculate inside and out.  I bought it from the local dealer, where the car has a full service history.

The good:

There are a couple of issues but for the most part it is in phenomenal condition.  I may post some questions here as I figure out what else needs to be done.

Thanks for looking!

2000 TDI Jetta is most certainly what I want for my first real car (something newer then 20+ years old lol). That's snazzy! Congratulations.

You got a great find on that one.

Thanks for the comment guys.  I love the car so far.  The fuel economy is way better than my gasser.  I also like how the ALH sounds just a bit more diesely than the PD.  8)

Some jerk has scraped the rocker underneath the drivers side rear door already though.  >:(

My girlfriend was bummed because we thought it only had the tape player.  There is actually a "Phatbox" in the trunk though.  Too bad we don't have the software...

Not at all.  I had no idea what it was until I looked it up. lol  It is basically a digital media storage unit that is in the trunk in place of the factory 6 disc changer.  It has an adapter cable that allows it to be connected to and controlled by the factory head unit.
