Title: K14-2 Turbocharger
Post by: Ruan on October 27, 2010, 03:52:48 pm
Been offered what looks like a K14-2 Turbo off the Volvo 850 2.5 R5 TDi 140hp - basically a 140hp R5 T4 engine...

Searched the part numbers and literally cannot find any info on it, does anyone know it's usefulness at all, or any specs on it? For a "K14" spec turbo, it looks bloody massive!

Cheers!

Sounds promising. You should see if you could get the compressor and turbine inducer/exducer diameters and compare to proven turbos.

Looks like I'm going to have to rip it off the vehicle - I'm hoping for a fair sized turbo... Just no information on it!

I'm just hoping the Exhaust side has a fairly meaty A/R so it's better up the revs...

Shamelessly stolen from the bay of ees:

I seem to recall there being K-16 somewhere, a K14 hot side & a K-24 cold. Any chance this is that?

Very well could be... I've had a gander at it, but the label is underneath, so a disaster to try and see!

I wonder what sort of HP/Torque it would support as standard :/

The K16 is the predecessor of the K03 turbo, a lot of bad bearing failures to it. Was used on the lower power versions of the 2.5TDI (Inline-5). The strongest 2.5TDI (Inline-5), the AEL with 140hp used the K14 pictured above. A better turbo than the K16, does 170hp in a chiptuned AEL.
