Title: Overheated Slug?

I have a 81 Pickup with A/C and a four speed, what a Slug. Overheated recently. So I pulled the head, its a 1500cc, no wonder it was a slug with the A/C on. Cylinders are scored at the top. Not even worth the trouble. I have a 89 Jetta engine that will be turboed with five speed. Should be a lot more fun to drive! I was only getting 25-26mpg with the 1.5.

25mpg?? With the air on full and the pedal to the floor? lol

my 1.6 with it going as fast as it could, would still get me above ~38-40mpg.. might have had another issue?
