Title: D5 Engine Code?

A guest in the TDIClub chat says that he's got a 94 Golf Marathon TDI with a D5 code engine, and an ATH tranny. Anyone know what engine this is? I suspect that the engine is a 1.9 indirect injection turbodiesel (and therefore, not a TDI), but I'd think that the engine code would be AAZ if it's that...

No D5 engine code exists in either US or European Etka. There is a DS engine code which is just a 1.8L gas engine. That's as close as I could find.

This was on the build sticker under the carpet, according to the person who's inquiring... assuming it's, oh, an AAZ, where would the code be stamped on the engine itself?

On a flat spot on the block just below the head between cylinders 3 and 4.
