Well since i don't need my truck for work anymore, and of course now that i've done all the mods i wanted to, it's time to sell and move on. It's a 1990 VW Transporter T25/3 here known as a Vanagon. Imported from Germany in spring 2007. It was a german army ambulance support vehicle. When i got it it had 74,000 kms , now about 130,000 . While in service in germany, it was evident it had a very easy life, with typical high maintenance -every 6 weeks whether driven or not. Heavy duty suspension [ rides almost as high as a syncro and has the cast front tables rather than stamped], 5 speed [more on this later] , and originally came with the special german 1.7 na. Rebuilt auxiliary heater. Modifications since bought: now has a 1.9 na ADG industrial engine- piston oilers and TDI crank and pulley. Giles super pump and proper 1Y intake manifold with 2.5 inch intake hoses from snorkel to air filter . Also professionally[by me !] converted to run on VO. Also changed the 5 speed with it's army-low 5.5 R&P and used a syncro case with a 4.86 R&P LSD and locking diff. No more getting stuck in snow. Comes with 14 " Nokain winters and 16" Continentals summers on MB rims. Truck came to me with a stripper interior- only front seats , no carpets, panels etc. I uprated the interior with ten velour front and center seats [center is a 2 seater] Fronts have the wonderful adjustable armrests. Full carpeting and mats.New front door and window seals, will supply side door seal if i don't to do it by sale time. Also installed the center side panels and will install/supply the rears to replace my homemade rear ones.Park and tail light brush guards, triple washer jets,LT mirrors. Body is very good, with only a couple of small rust bubbles. No seam rot which is what usually happens with these trucks. It came with factory underseal and i've undercoated it every year since i've had it. I'll take $8500 neg. [i.e without the VO system]now, less in spring if i still have it or trade for a good solid [no floor rot! ] 1998 Jetta TDI plus cash. Will deliver. Don't know about importing to the US [ except Maine according to Scott] . Since this the one of 2 sites i ever really care about, a discount will apply to any of my VW Diesel.net peeps. Double exhaust manifold and downpipe arrived and are to be mounted soon.More pics to come [this one's from last year]:(http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo4/lhomme/DSC00330.jpg)

nice van.

Thanks-I really do love it, but i try not to be sentimental about my vehicles -except for my 71 super beetle
-
what does this van have for an exhaust manifold and header pipe? dual outlet style?
-
That is going to be the next step in getting more power out of it.As matter of fact, i'm going to a muffler shop tomorrow with the dual outlet manifold i got a few months ago to get them to make a Y . Then I have to decide whether i'm going to get them to fab me up a muffler from scratch or buy one off the shelf [possibly a Flowmaster Hush-something or other]. I'll get it all 2.5 " from the Y down. As it stands now,it's quicker than a TD vanagon.

have you ever seen a TIICO conversion kit for a vanagon? some of them have a really nice two into one exhaust that would be great for that setup you have. I may even be able to hook you up with one. The manifold is from an Audi 80, late 80's 2.0 gas bubble block

I just looked at their site, but it doesn't show what the exhaust looks like. I got a quote to make the Y but if there's something available off the shelf, i'd like to know. Do you know where i can find a photo somewhere of what it's like?

The pipe is shown in the ETKA under the South African market. It would be for the 1.8 engine in a T2. Email me your number caveman and I'll call you if you like. My email: ilikevwdiesel at yahoo dot you know what.

Good. I agree with the vortex although I've had some good luck there but you sure need to wear big boots to wade through all the BS.

That's a nice tidy set up with the rear locker, low veg. oil and veg. oil on set up. Cool idea with the locking diff AND LSD, you don't see nor hear of that very often. I think your asking price is fair and am a little surprised no one has jumped on this yet.

X2. Sent this to a buddy in Toronto and another in Halifax who is looking. Nice Donaldson filter setup, do you have the part number for that housing?
-
Donaldson # G 065433 . It's in there without any metal cutting, but it's very,very tight.
I got the idea from a shop i know that installs them vertically, but that means cutting a hole and having three quarters of it hanging out and right where the tire sprays dirt on it.
BTW i can deliver almost anywhere, but only after getting a cash deposit

It looks like there is ample clearance in the engine compartment, why did you opt to raise the rear deck?

What are your thought on that filter setup for the CFM needed in a turbo application? It just fits so nice!
(sorry for the thread hijack... :-[ Think of it as free bumps!)
-
It has more than enough flow for a 1.9 AAZ. I checked the specs before buying it, but in reality, i could have gone for something a little smaller, but i knew it would work, and wasn't very expensive- less than $100
-
I remember that it was spec'ed out for up to 300hp in a medium/large truck
-
Almost spring -BUMP !!

BUMP !
I make the TIICO silicone hose kit for the conversion if you need one

-
thanks, but with the low mileage and wear, all the hoses are still in very good nick. i guess it's never had a diesel fuel leak!
However i will mention that to whom ever finally buys it.
