Title: 93 AAZ flywheel size
Post by: Thezorn on September 05, 2010, 12:10:54 am
What size flywheel do these come with stock? is it a 210mm?

Also what is the best type of clutch kit for this car. Im looking for a stage 2 im guessing.
Im running a stock pump with the fuel screw turned in, cold air intake, and will have an intercooler on it (once I can find time to put it on) and im running 15 pounds of boost right now. Im probabley going to up it to 20 with the intercooler. Right now this set up spins my clutch fairly easiley so it is definatley time for an upgrade.

Do you have a cable shift trans or linkage?

its gonna be 210 if its an 020 trans, and 228mm if its an 02A

but im not aware of a 93 vw diesel that uses a 02A..

Its gotta be an 020 then. So that means 210mm
Now as for a clutch, what should I be looking for.
Should I be looking for a Stage 2 clutch out of a VR6 1.8L or a 2.0L?
Im guessing the VR6 stage two would be the strongest, but what is the best bet?

You cannot use the VR6 clutch. It is only for the 02a trans. With your current setup, you should use a stock 210mm disk with an upgraded pressure plate. I recommend the ACT pressure plate.

At least in Canada, eh??!!   ;)

(In North America) Canadian Passats seemed to be the test bed for stuff that showed up later on Golfs and Jettas but you never know who has swapped what into what... best bet OP is to check to top of the transmission to see if you have cables or rigid shift linkages.

ok, well i stand corrected, but most of the pre-93 diesels were stuck in canada. there are not many passat diesels here.

sorry I thought I mentioned that. It is "shifter linkages" but I wouldn't goas far as calling them RIDGID since it need a good rebuild kit haha.
