Title: Resistance values of fuel level sender?
Post by: erice1984 on September 02, 2010, 10:39:46 pm
Anyone know the resistance values from Empty to Full regarding fuel level?

I don't have a gauge and am going to make one using a micro controller.  Just thought if someone knew I wouldn't have to go pull mine out and test it.

Thanks

Didn't think anyone knew this.

Well I pulled mine out (1980 Rabbit diesel)

I left my notes in the garage but I think I remember writing down that:

50 ohms = full

270 ohms = empty

EDIT: I am positive those are the correct resistances but not 100% sure that 50ohms = full and 270ohms = empty  they could be reversed.

Thanks for posting... 'cause yeah... it's one of those unpublished things.  VW uses a special test box #1301 that is *not* calibrated in ohms.   ::)

Having said that, I did find this link one day that provides some clues as to how it maps:

The table near the bottom of that page lines up with what you measured...groovy !!
