Title: The first electrical test on gasser to diesel swap
Post by: jaysen71581 on September 01, 2010, 02:16:45 pm
So i have pretty much all of my plugs plugged in on the dash and was doing some tests when i set my test light down and much to my surprise the light came on when it was touching the bare floor pan, am i missing something here ???? Can anyone with a 1.6 turbo diesel post some enginebay pics... Thanks

What was the other end connected to?  Bat+ sounds normal to me, if it was a chassis GND then that connection requires service as the test light completed the circuit for you.  Do you have some stray wires?  Maybe at the fuse box.  With a little more info like what circuit were you connected to I think we can solve your problem if you have one.  Cheers

Ok after some more testing i figured out that if i unplug the wire that goes into the back of the ignition the one where you put your key in i have no power, but the moment i plug it into the back of the ignition and i take my test light and touch the bare floor pan its energized, my ground is directly off the negative battery terminal, could it be a bad igntion thats grounding out through the steering column?
