Title: Giles Pump in a 1.6NA!
Post by: casanis on August 27, 2010, 07:43:07 pm
Just wanted to put out a big thanks to Giles and the good people over at at 'Performance Diesel Injection' for rebuilding/resealing/modding my injection pump.

1985 4 door Jetta with stock 1.6NA. Engine rebuilt 15000km ago. (thanks Red Rabbit)

Latest fill-up was 42.3L (regular Petro Canada Diesel w/ no additive) and she traveled 1096km on it....

Equates to ~3.86 km/L (or south of the border 60.9MPG).

I'm not proud - I babied her the whole way at 105kmh (65mph) on highway and driving like a 91 year old grandma in town!

60/40 highway/city driving.

Response is there when you need it though...

Thanks again Giles et al... 'Performance Diesel Injection' could not come more highly recommended!

That is remarkable !

I drive at about the same rate of speed on highways,
and my percentage is about the same - maybe 70% hwy/30% city.

I'm doing good to get 50 mpg overall in a bone stock 89 4dr Jetta 1.6 NA. My best was 52.1 with 90% hwy/10% city - before i moved.

Giles definitely put you right into the magic zone.

I visited his shop about a month ago.
Very nice place and top-notch equipment.
Really good people.

Awsome, I was acutally wondering what mileage is like when running a giles pump, you've cleared that question up.
