OK, I'm not 100% sure this Jetta needs it, but I feel like I MUST annoy myself and join the IP rebuild club.
The car has decided to idle roughly and accelerate poorly. I have played with injectors ( 8 rebuilt ones), compression is good , timing is good, no air in the lines, I can't think of anything else (can you?).
I got this car for peanuts because the PO had screwed up the timing and wrecked the head. When I got it, it had a rebuilt pump on it, but had been sitting for probably 2 years ( in Florida). The thing had been running pretty well after I fixed it , but sort of all of a sudden lost a lot of its zip. I am thinking there's a leak in the IP or low internal pressure.
Anyway, I have a small pile of IPs to experiment with...does this look like a good seal kit?

Also, it seems to me like I may as well use as many new bushings as possible, and I see Prothe has them as well as several other internal parts. Has anyone used the Prothe IP seal kit and any of his IP parts?
Any good?

When I worked for Giles I took apart a lot of Prothe's rebuilt pump. His parts are crap. One pump comes to mind, it was a mTDI and had "run" for less then 1000kms. His parts showed the same amount of wear that a Bosch part shows at around 200 000kms

Prothe's IP seal kits are Chinese, FWIW.

The kit in that link seems like a winning score, especially having the front seal too.
It won't do the LDA / Aneroid on a TD pump or the 89-92 with altitude compensator aneroid.
-
That's OK, the cores I have are old pre-85 simple tech. I can't see the need for the LDA/aneroid on a 1.6 NA here in flat Florida and that pimple always gets in the way of #2 hole.
Yeah, I know Prothe's stuff is Chinese. I'm not generally fond of their stuff, but they do occasionally screw up and produce something worthwhile.
Besides Prothe, are there any other sources of various Bosch IP internals that I may find I need as I rebuild a pump?

Use parts from other pumps, just make sure they are identical.
Bosch parts are very, very expensive to purchase new.

I have purchased at least 6 of these kits from "Sam the diesel man" (ebay link) and I have always immediately received a Bosch brand kit with no delays in shipping or bad packaging or any other problems.

I just bought one a couple months ago, haven't used it yet but it is bosch.

Just to give an idea of the bang for buck on that deal ...

Ordered it Monday, he shipped it Tuesday from GA, it may get to FL this week if USPS isn't asleep.
