Title: possible lack of oil to head in 1.6??? worn out lifter bores
Post by: pyro7890 on August 01, 2010, 08:58:08 pm
i have 4 mk1s 2 1.5's and 2 1.6's and all of the heads have worn out lifter bores. does anyone know if this is a common problem and if so what is a good solution. i have heard of using an oil baffle and putting a higher volume oil pump. i just suspect it is a lack of oil but am unsure
thanks for looking

my bet would be that they ran with the lifters way out of adjustment for too long.. and then all that excess clearance wallowed out the bores..

just a thought..

or they were overheated, warping the head, which can tear up the cam bore pretty quick...
