I certainly hope the powers that be @ Speed Channel see fit to tear themselves away from the "Hicks on Slicks" long enough to cover Lemans this year so we can all watch this in action :!:

DIESELS UBER ALLES!!

That gives me a great reason to attend the Le Mans race this upcoming year. It's located about a 5 1/2 hour drive from me.
-
Well, it's going to be run at Sebring Florida in March too. That's about a 23 hr. drive for me, but I'm still thinking about going 8)

-
You know... Sebring WILL be on the Speed Channel...
Now, if only I had cable...
(FWIW, TDIClubbers will know me... but I'm a n00b here)
-
hey i live in sebring. maybe ill bring my digicam and go to the race. would you guys be interested in first hand video of the car running?
-
Yes! :D
-
Of course! ;)
-
Well, I'm stuck in the sticks with a dial-up connection, so it won't do me much good
But for the others more fortunate on the forum, please do 8)

If I thought I could have the Diesel Tub ready in time for Sebring I'd def be there. But as I'm only midway through my pan replacement (car now in "Fred Flintstone" mode) that's not likely to happen
-
Hopefully, someone with Speed Channel can tape the thing for me, so I can see the whole race... I think I know someone that might have it, too :D
-
guess what i have speed too.
gotta let mew know when its on soi can record it to the computer.

The American Le Mans Series opens the 2006 season with the 54th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, scheduled for March 18 on SPEED Channel. Series teams will have the opportunity to test at the second annual Wheels Down Winter Test from Jan. 23-25 at Sebring International Raceway.
No time, yet, though.
-
Bump this up because the 18th is getting close.
-
What time does the coverage start on SPEED Channel?
Harry
-
The schedule is here (http://www.speedtv.com/schedule/index.php?m=03&d=18&ts=1142658000&timezone=0&subcat=&program=&usecal=yes).
It's in several pieces, but...
For Eastern Time:
10:30-1:00 (first part)
2:30-6:30 (second part)
7:30-11:00 (third part)
Central Time:
9:30-12:00 (first part)
1:30-5:30 (second part)
6:30-10:00 (third part)
Mountain Time:
8:30-11:00 (first part)
12:30-4:30 (second part)
5:30-9:00 (third part)
Pacific Time:
7:30-10:00 (first part)
11:30-3:30 (second part)
4:30-8:00 (third part)
They have NASCAR inserted in between the parts... BUT, the parts are all live. Now, can someone record all of this for those of us unlucky enough to not have Speed Channel (or any cable)?
-
What day? is it the 23rd then?
I could capture it but I'm not sure how I'd distribute that to anyone. That would be an insanely huge file.
-
It's the 18th.
And, for distributing it, encode it using DiVX, and distribute it using BitTorrent.
-
bhtooefr,
Thanks for the times. And if NASCAR comes on then we get free lessons on English as a second language. Roundanaroundanaroundanaroundanaround, who cares!

this is porn to my eyes...

Live audio: http://globecast.workscast.com/

One started on pole, the other from the pit lane as they didn't complete repairs in time. They are now running 1-2.
-
The #1 R10 is retired. Overheating is claimed, but there's rumors that it's actually a telemetry failure.
#2 holds the lead. Diesel power has dominated this race.
-
Dr Ulrich says the official reason for pulling the other R10 was overheat. Lack of telemetry lead to the problem.
-
The Audi R10 #2 brings TDI power the win!
:D
-
Ha, showed them!
Was ahead by 4 laps at one time. :D
They were really talking about the diesel and how this car could change the reputation of the diesel engine.
There was no smoke, little noise, no smell and lots of power.
Some of this was due to the Shell fuel that will be coming to America in a few years.
It will be fun to see how it does at Lemans.
-
guys, i went to the race. i have video and pictures of both tdi's in the pits being worked on. i shook hands with the germans working on the cars and talked with some of them in the pits. i stood on the starting line 5 mins before the race bagan and took pis of the tdi's. i shot video of alot of it, espically video of the car on the track, car being loaded the day before on the trailer, them putting body panels on and off, some neat engine pics and vids.
also got alot of video of other cars but i really focused on the tdi's because i knew you guys would love it.
ill compilate the video and distrubute it tomorrow. its 410am and im too tired to type anymore.
it was amazing ill say that.
-

When can we watch these diesels race again?
Is it this weekend?
-
They'll be at Le Mans next...
-
Hey now, we're getting close to another good race.
-
Ahh, good bump. :)
-
Audi #7 only second fastest in testing. Pescarolo running 2s/lap faster. Or is Audi bluffing about the potential? ;)
-
I suspect that Audi's using the same strategy that they said they were using at Sebring.
Take it easy, save themselves for the race, and don't let too much info past.
Now, once they start racing the 24 Heure du Mans, I do believe they'll go all out. Stretching fuel tanks to the end, running the car hard rather than babying it, etc., etc.
