Title: Trouble Shooting
Post by: Vangruver on July 07, 2010, 04:13:00 pm
my 1.6 TD is running phenomenally, however there is a ticking sound that comes from the car upon acceleration. Really sounds like a ticking valve like a gas engine would have.

I haven't yet read up on the Bentley to source what it could be, but it's been evident more so since I returned from a long drive.

The exhaust isn't leaking, so i can't say for certain if it's a leaky connection between the downpipes where the VW clamps hold the two together.

The car had just received a timing belt replacement, and after a 2500 km drive it's only been more so when i'm not driving to and from work.

Now because this is my FIRST experience with this engine, or a diesel engine for that matter, I don't know where to start looking for any solution.

The car is roughly 1000k away from an oil change, when that happens and the problem still surfaces, should i probe deeper into the situation?

It could be a lifter,or a bad or loose or leaking injector

That's what I've been reading.

It's a golden car, just needs it's kinks worked out of it.
