This article says this setup would not be suitable for rally racing. Do I not recall diesel VW entries doing quite well very recently in some big races? Is is the weight?

Well, it is a Mitsubishi Evo so I doubt the engine would still run by the end of the race.

It angers me at how ignorant North Americans are towards diesels. >:(

you would think diesels would be better? more torque down low to pull you thru the corner?

I would think that the hybrid part would kill it for motorsports more than the diesel part.

I am happy to let people drive gasser rigs here in north america, leaves more diesel for those of us that are really passionate about it.

Hybrids are pointless in racing. The added weight hurts performance and handling, and fuel economy really doesn't matter.
