I figured i should introduce myself and say hi... I recently picked up a 92 Jetta TD Coupe with a blown HG and plan on doing the franken motor to it... I never saw the car run and took the sellers word on its recent running status before towing it home. It cranked fine and had a brand new pump on it so i was sold. Anyways, check out the pics and let me know what you think about the tops of the pistons. Looks like some kissing went on a while back, think there still good?

I dont know that id be as concerned about the pistons as the bearings..
not sure which franken build youre referring to. coming of a hydra head mated to mech. block, and am looking forward to going back to mech lifters.

i plan on doing something like Smokey Eddy. Im gona drop some cash on the 1.6 bottom end and start lookin for a aaz head.

nice lookin body on that jetta, doesent look like much rust, lol that an aftermarket cooling fan i see on propped up on the strut tower there?
