I am wondering if anyone has attempted to swap a 1.9 AAZ into a B5 Passat that has a 1.8t in it?
I have almost 500 kms on my rebuild, and now I need a steering rack badly. I have so much money into this car, it makes me sick to look at it, but I dont want to part with the engine.
I can get a B5 Passat with a blown 1.8t/5 speed for next to nothing. I realize I wont have gauges and speedo, but I would have a car that the windows work, and doesnt bounce like its on hydraulics when i hit bumps on the road and such.
Would the AEB engine mounts bolt up to the AAZ block to make it a direct bolt in? I realize there is much work to do after that, but bolting it in is what I wondering about. Everything else I can probably ??? rig up to get the engine to run.
Thanks

I think I have a rack that will work for you. $20 sound fair?
As to your real questions, I don't know.

At least the AEB I had, had different mounting than AAZ.

AEB and AAZ brackets will not interchange. A lot of the other brackets wouldn't fit very well either....

Thanks!
Glad I asked first before jumping into another dead loss project.
