Hello guys i have a video of this ticking or rather banging somewhere in the transmission. ive looked under the hood and nothing is hitting even when i put it in 5th gear. im thinking its the throw out bearing maybe but im not really sure but heres the videos...
I know its not that much help but it gives you an idea. its gets loud when i press the throttle, then when i let off its gets quite only in 5th gear... its weird
Its a very faint sound on the video but in the car its loud

Only in fifth gear huh? thats weird. If it were the throw out bearing as you suggest, I think the sound would be apparent in all the gears, no?
Hmm, maybe it is an unbalanced tire? or maybe a failing CV?
-
I haven't heard what the self machining syndrome sounds like, but maybe it is that. Also, if you run these low on oil the fifth gear is the one that gets hot and then wants to break.
That being said all I can hear is what sounds like a wheel bearing up front. They usually get better or worse on turns and load though.
-
Yes the throw out bearing should be in all gears. it maybe a failed CV. when i wiggle the CV axels its kinda like its wore out.
@theman53 what is the machining syndrome sound? and it get worse with load
-
from what I have heard once you hear it it is too late. I don't know I am sure you could search, but the SMS basically puts a hole in the side of your case and all the oil runs out.

Well my engines using oil like crazy so i might just rebuild it. and in the process get a good used transmission and CV axles
-
That is how my build started :D Good luck.
-
Thanks man ;) any advice on the build? im fully committed now!
-
You're transmission oil has gotten too low. 5 th is now shot, maybe even the shaft, that's why it's noisy. Gears are sloppy .
-
theres nothin i can do to help it? put more gear oil in it?
-
Check out Broke's site, as I suggested, to see some pictures of what the damage caused by running low on oil looks like. It's the result of overheating, which is a 1-way ticket. :'(
