I just picked up a wrecked 83 rabbit on the cheap. Body completely totaled - Anyway, I put glow plugs in it and bled the fuel lines and it started right up! It seems to clatter a lot louder than the other 1.6's I have. My question is, how can I quiet it up? Am I stuck rebuilding the head or is there a way to tweak things so that it is a little quieter? My dream is to pull it and drop it into a caddy. I a 1.6td caddy and hit a deer a few years ago. I sure miss it. BTW - I love this forum you have all taught me a lot! :) :)

Check the cam/cramk timing.
and retard the timing.
You can turn the pump with the engine running and listen.
