Title: Round Headlight Conversion Part Source Question
Post by: ventureforth on May 08, 2010, 01:55:10 pm
This may be just a silly noob question.  So, I'm pricing out elements for a round headlight conversion on my '82 Rabbit Diesel.  Is the quality much different going with a place like rabbitparts.com vs. partstrain for things like fenders and hoods?  The price for the round headlight fenders on rabbitparts is $140 and the price on partstrain is $62.  That's half the cost, so I'm wondering if the quality is inferior.  I got the bumper, headlights, grill and other bits and pieces at the pick and pull, so all I need is the core support and the fenders.  Core support I'll get from rabbitparts, I guess, but am wondering about going elsewhere for the fenders.

Thanks.

Are the fenders OE vs. aftermarket? I'd be cautious about the fitment of aftermarket fenders but the quality is probably hit or miss.

I was in the same boat years ago, I went with new from South Africa

www.autostyle.co.za (http://www.autostyle.co.za)

I do like the fenders with the side marker, these SF fenders only work with SF core support and front bumper

I sold two other complete sets and it paid the shipping on all three ( sets ) I purchased .

You will see some parts from Italy also for the MK1 's

Ask your vendor where is the origin before you purchase , I hope you go round crosshair's

I noticed after market body panel steel tends to dent and rust easier
