Title: What is that switch?
Post by: Powered by Spearco on April 14, 2010, 09:10:28 pm
A friend of mine has a '85 Golf diesel. 5spd. 4dr. with AC.
There are the two switches on the pump for AC, but whats the one under the throttle pedal?
The car is completely stock and unmodified.

Come on, someone knows.
Whats the switch under the go pedal?

It's actually pretty rare... and I don't think anyone's ever posted up a picture.  Hint hint.  ;)

The most common theory I've heard is that it's a "turn off the air conditioning.. he needs all 52 screaming horses right now" switch.

That is correct.
My car ('90) has the same switch but on the IP. It shuts off the AC at WOT. (not that my car has or ever had AC...)

Thanks for the picture... exactly what was needed.

That would be P/N 431 959 897, described as "switch FOR A/C CUTOUT"

(caps a straight quote from ETKA)
