Title: WTB CCV hose (3 way) 1.6D
Post by: 2strokesmoke on April 02, 2010, 10:52:26 pm
Hey Guys,
I'm looking for a good used or new Crank Case Vent (CCV) hose, which is 3 way (or has 3 connections). To drain back oil from engine blowby and prevent a runaway engine.
While my 82 caddy ,with 1.6NA- doesn't have much blowby at all,it has the  2 way hose.
I remember the 3 way hose,as being a must have and great protection agianst a runaway engine condition.
I am purchasing a new block flange, from another member, but still need a good 3 way CCV hose.
Is a camshaft oil deflector or baffle, helpful for this condition also ?
Prefer those with good feedback and who accept PayPal.
Thanks,Mike

The camshaft plastic oil deflector "hood" tends to lessen the chance of runaway....but, it can still occur.

If I remember correctly. That hose is rare and is most likely not availble either. Also rotted away due to oil and heat cylces.
You could probly make one cheaper than the stock hose costs.

I've been thinking about making my own system of catching the blow by and letting it fall back into the block. I was going to use dishwasher hose. I have it going from my breather on top of the cam cover to the intake right now and it rests against the cover. Hasn't melted or rubbed.

i took my 3 way hose off so i could run a catch can. the gasses come out of the head, go through the catch can , and the bottom of the can drains back into the engine.

On fast right hand turns, the three way hose will put a boat load of oil in your intake.  I had one on my 1.5TD and i took it off because of it.

The catch can thing would be a good if you had some sort of check valve in the block drain line.

I suspect that in a zippy right turn, the oil sloshes to the right, hits the crank, and get blasted right at the port.  Then up the tube it goes and the motor gets very angry.

instead of a check valve, i just used a nipple that had a kind of built in restrictor. so, even if something did decide to come back up, it wouldnt amke it very far, and not very much would come out. and it would take some time for the oil to make it that far anyway. the lines for my catch can are kinda long. a 2 foot run from the block to the can, and a 3 foot run from the can to the intake.
