I put a new belt on my car cause the old one exploded, and well now the car sqwels on start up and when u shift gears and such, which is pretty gehtto, lol, everything spins freely, and such, but WTF, i bought it from CarQuest, so idk, anyone have any ideas?
-
Which belt?
-
Which belt?
...and how did you tension it, and what did the pulleys look like, and why did the old one explode?
-
The belt for the alternator, im not sure how the other one broke. its just fell apart lets say, there was only like 1/4 of the belt left
-
Is the alternator bearing seizing?
-
Brand new alter, and brand new water pump, all spins smoothly, tenshioner spins smoo
thly
-
Alt belt too narrow?
Pulleys too polished from last slipping belt?
-
Yeah, whats the condition of the pullies? If they have a nick or scrape on the contact surface, they will chew up belts.
-
When it is sqweling, and i give it gas, the fog lights dim, but i stater the car today mulitple times today and it hasnt sqweled yet, is it possable that the belt had to break in?

I'm going out on a limb and assuming we're talking about the '93 1.9TD in your sig line. If so, then it has the serpentine belt setup. Assuming you got the correct number of grooves on your serp belt, then the most likely suspect is worn out bushings for the tensioner arm or a broken tensioner spring.
I'm with Andrew on this one... If it does not squeel again, maybe you got lucky or its slipping so much it is not making the noise. Since it stopped, have you checked the tension ? You should be able to turn the motor a little by turning the fins on the alternator, the tensioner spring will keep a constant tension without kills the bearings in the water pump and alternator from being too tight.

serp alts dont have an exposed fan to grab onto tho...

What fins on the alternator? Do u mean by turning the belt? But ill check the tension of the belt.

seems tight to me, the belt hasnt sqweeled sence a couple days ago, so maybe its fine now
