Title: How Do You Know When New Rings Are Seated?
Post by: rs899 on March 17, 2010, 12:04:19 pm
I have around 2000 blissful miles on my re-ringed 91 Jetta IDI.  Very little oil consumption as far as I can tell .

The engine has 143K on it total and I want to switch to synthetic as soon as possible.  Can I do it at 3000 miles on the rings or should I wait at least one more oil change?  Opinions?

I think I'd be waiting a little longer.

I'll agree with Rabbit on this..  For the sake of playing it safe I usually like to get two dino oil changes in..
