could you confirm please that is the layout of the timing belt, thanks
it's going into a mk1 and after having installed the engine mount the belt looks like its' real close to rubbing together between the mount and the intermediary sproket ...

Yes it will come very close to the mount... but you should be fine. You'll also find it's a tight fit side-to-side, but again it will work.
What kinda MK1 are you dropping it into?? Inquiring minds want to know... ;) ;D

thanks for the confirmation 8) takes a wheight off my chest ;D
it's going into a mk1 caddy, bought it off a farmer you had "botched" the job of putting in a "JR" 1.6TD using the wrong engine mounts, belt and gearbox side, only had 4 of the 5 gears etc etc. finaly it used more water than diesel so convinced my wife that it would be cheaper to just buy another engine than do the head/gasket ... and went and bough a "RA" 1.6 TD.
installed with a renault safrane IC and the thing made a racket !
In the meantime my dad crashed my sisters B3 AAZ passat sooooooo I'm putting in her engine ;)
not done yet, was supposed to be a quick job ... that was last winter. now I'm trying to get thing done bit by bit when I have the time.
Intalled PS aswell.
Once the caddy is back on the road and be rebuilding the "RA" engine with a Giles superpump (I've already got it)

Did you know at the time that you were lying? ;D
Like all of us guys the ends justifies the means ;D

Hey, does your passenger mount extend out to & hold the IP?
It looks like you modified a MK1 1.6 Passenger Motor Mount and reduced it so it has 4 points of attachment....

no it's a gas MK1 engine mount, easier than cutting up a diesel one. the AAZ doesn't need the full bracket because the pump is not mounted the same way.
