Title: Diesel Syncro shenanigans
Post by: Dr. Diesel on February 27, 2010, 12:01:16 am
Clowning around at Giles' shop in my lifted, diesel converted syncro. Best car I've ever had!
Selling it later this year, tragically. :(

That was neat. No way I would do that with my 83 GTI that close to those parked cars. It is very unpredictable with the rear end sometimes there sometimes loose...my luck would be that I would have that kind of fun and then say " I'll do one more pass then we'll go" which is the magic saying for the rear of the car is going to finally let loose and smack one of the most expensive cars parked.

With the syncro it looks to be on a rail though. Good job.

Thanks to Burn_Your_Money for the camera work!

The Syncro is very easy to control, and predictable, once you gain the mindset that it's FWD with rear assist! ;D

At least there's one good use for snow...  Although I'm still a die hard for the beauty of rear wheel drive in snow..

Doc, you need some Super Swampers on that baby!!!

Rear drive certainly wouldn't have the tendancy to understeer like syncro. Evenly split power, like subarus and some quattros with lockable diffs would be the best though. The simultaneous ability to kick the ass out, and tuck the nose in is the ultimate control. ;D If you unsettle a Syncro and get the arse swinging, it has those characteristics. Beating the initial understeer is the trick!
My original plans were to make a Golf Country-esque ladder frame to space the drivetrain off the body. Then some big meats would fit. As it is now, 205/70R15 is about the biggest that will fit!
