Title: Parts Order: 1.9 AAZ into rabbit AND parts supplier recommendation in the US??
Post by: purvisgs on February 24, 2010, 09:50:36 pm
I have a 93 aaz with 5spd attached ready to go into an 80 pickup.

While it is out, I know I should probably put on a new timing belt... The engine I have already has a keyed crank pulley :)  Exhaust and intake and turbo still bolted to it.

I am planning to order:    !!I AM SURE I AM MISSING A FEW THINGS, ADVICE APPRECIATED!!!

Rabbit motor mounts
timing belt (and tensioner?)
oil filter
oil pan gasket
valve cover gasket
(or should I just get gasket set for the engine)

Also, who would you order it from I have called a few vw suppliers and they say "We do not carry parts for the AAZ it was Canada only"

Thank you!

Yes, do the tensioner pulley too.  Perhaps pop-test the injectors?  Make sure to replace the heat shields if you decide to remove them.  Test and replace bad glow plugs too.  Order your parts through 1stvwparts.com.  They're a VW dealer in the PNW.  Excellent prices and service.  They can get all of your AAZ parts.

Water pump 55.00 ( With new Housing ) German OEM

Hoses ( 3) 42.50

Clean the motor before install

If it was a gas you will need 1.6 coolant housings ( temp sensors )

Was it a four speed or 5 speed beforel
