Title: Dakota Digital Diesel Tach Tachometer Adapter DSL-1 experience
Post by: Familydiesel on February 20, 2010, 01:40:17 am
Have any of you used the Dakota Digital Diesel Tach Tachometer Adapter DSL-1  with a gasser tach?  How did it work?  I have a 1980 Rabbit pickup and bought a nice year compatable tach/speedo setup from a scirroco (2 round holes for speedo and tach).  I am using a "w" terminal alternator to give the signal.  Does this converter work well?  I don't know that I want to play with changing the tach resistors if I can help it.  I would appreciate hearing any experiences with this kind of approach.   :-\

I have read some recent ideas about pickups, so would be open to soweone who has converted successfully to one of these approaches that is simple and the parts resonable and easy to find.

Thanks, :)
Greg

its supposed to be a bolt on and go thing with the dakota digital converter box. just gotta adjust the pot on the box to get the tach to read right.

I recently was in contact with DD and they said their converter will work with pre 86 VW tachs but not post 86 tachs because of the voltage the tachs call for. As long as you have a pre86 tach you should be good to go.
