Post by: oldskool rich on February 02, 2010, 05:46:07 pm
at work ive had alot of trouble with these 2.0 16 valve engines, built one perfectly with new bearing and oil pump, as soon as the customer installed it oil light came on, no reason why, changed the oil pump, and still ***ed.
anyone know where im going wrong? do the blocks or heads go wrong? if so where and can they be fixed? im at my witts end VW wont admit theres a common problem with anything

please help

Try priming oil pump. I have been known to pressurise the sump oil with compressed air, low press.mind the oil seals. Had to do this on various engines over the years v8 rovers, vauxhall cavs., golfs random really.

i dont think this is the case, they run ok, just wen you rev them the oil light cums on. rest of the time oil pressure isnt low enough to be a problem

its using the same oil pump as all the other PD engines

So oil light comes on with ign. goes out when started then comes back on at high revs? Have you fitted a pressure gauge to see exactly whats happening?
