Title: EXTRUDEHONE ( Internal Polishing ) Intake & Head Assy
Post by: GEE-BEE on January 27, 2010, 10:14:42 am
Since I started my build and almost ready to send my PD130 intake and to powdercoating, I decided to send this intake to Extrudehone for internal polishing.

Extrudehone advises of a 30% better flow after this process.

The process uses a liquid plasma material and take just minutes to mirror polish.

I will keep you advise of this and the cost $

I have seen it before. They told us it was the next best thing to building a custom sheet metal intake as far as smoothness and flow...$$$ though.

fur sure, everything GB does is out of the realm of most of us. just from the super steep price tags.

I remember looking into this a few weeks back.  I think it was something like $550 for the intake mani and roughly $700 for an aluminum 4 Cyl head.  Big money but word on the street is it's night and day performance wise.

Did you remove that big wart right inside the intake opening caused by a mount bolt flange? It would need to be plugged afterwards w/ a short bolt. Pretty glaring design flaw. ::)

I ground down most of the mounting ears, drilled and tapped for a probe Boost probe

I trimmed that with a dremel and then sent it in....

Will See...

Hmmm, I think it would be more advantageous for a gasser. Guess we'll have to see though.

yeah what the hell? I did what GB did and ground it out and tapped for the boost gauge there, problem with that is it is very close to the turbine housing on the top mounted turbo. My boost gauge tubing has not melted yet though.

I used some fire-jacket for my wires in that area , Iam waiting on some convoluted poly tubing  and then wrap the ends in black silicone tape( boostcontroller seller ) mfg by Samco.

Next relocate battery to a s/s battery box under the bed ( Optima ) largest model available

i don't post up pics that other folks send me.   ;D  I actually kinda messed up a transaction with Gee Bee over because I'm an idiot and lost a part, and he did nothing but take it lightly, and make me laugh my butt off from our email conversations.   can't wait to see the finished product.   ;)

. I've played with a corrado that had an extrude honed head and intake manifold and the performance was worth every penny.  My friend bought the parts for his lysholm  1.8L corrado. With no other mods performed the car put down 35 more WHP and it did not lose any PSI. Typically porting causes a pressure drop and a WHP gain but this combo was different
