Title: Intercooler leakage
Post by: crazybushman on June 28, 2004, 07:54:32 am
Hi!
I was wondering how much leakage is allowed on an intercooler if any?  I bought an intercooler on ebay, it was supposed to be a front mount unit, but I have modified one of the end tanks, so it should fit nice right above my gearbox.  After TIG welding things together, I decided to pressure check it.  I put the pressure up to 25 psi, but I have a leak on one of the lower cores......  I don't know a thing about pulling that kind of stuff apart for repair.  I imagine that the cores are very thin aluminum and wouldn't want to be welded anyways.  I did find that JB Weld will hold 25 psi though :-)  I don't know how to describe how bad the leak is, but it takes around 10-15 seconds to empty out the 25 psi.  What would happen if I ran it as is?  Thanks in advance!

Tyler
