I have the above engine from a passat, i have installed into my camper, but can not find where to attach the vacuum hose to from the waste gate.  There is one connected to the intake manifold from the waste gate . The engine replaced a jx 1.6td.  I wonder if the hose is connected somehow to the vacuum pump, which at the moment just operates the brake servo.
Also there is a device on top of the injedctor pump with two wires which I believe is a fuel controller, how can I connect this up, does anybody have any ideas? they would be appreciated.

What brand turbo do you have?

The line is usually connected somewhere near the outlet of the compressor (aluminium snail part), do not connect it to the vacuumpump!

Sounds like the K03 turbo. That vacuum hose is normally connected to what the manual calls the "changover valve". It is used to pull open the wastegate during light load operation, presumably to lower cylinder pressure and reduce the formation of NOX. On passat's it opens in conjunction with the EGR valve.

 You can just ignore it or put a short length of hose on it to prevent the entry of dirt/water.

 The 2 wire connector on the injection pump is connected to a switch on the throttle linkage that is used by the changover valve (or the EGR system on passats) to detect light throttle application. Again, this can be ignored. There is another connection on the 1.9TD pump neare the bottom of the pump housing. this controls the "load dependant timing". When de-energized this valve retards the injection timing. In the original application this valve was de-energized at engine speeds below 2800rpm to reduce NOX emissions (at the expense of fuel economy and power) and energized above 2800rpm to provide best power. You can simply connect it to the fuel cutoff solenoid with a short jumper.
