Title: What Starters Will Fit???

More bad luck, I had my starter go this morning. Anybody know what starters are interchangeable with the 1.9 TD??

Can you not get another td starter?  I used a 2.0 gasser starter with mine for a little while, but the diesel starter is much more powerful.  I got a starter from the local parts store for a 97 jetta AAZ, since my car has the 02a transmission, and it works great.  Cost me 120.

According to my info (which is usually right!  ;D) it's part number 068 911 023T, or Bosch part number SR34x. Both are readily available up there for you, they generally retail for about $150+$60 core. I also see an aftermarket one 020 911 024A which should work for you, it doesn't have a core and runs about $150 as well. If you have issues finding one let me know, but that should give you plenty of options! :)
