Title: "91 Diesel Thermostat R&R
Post by: thomas m on January 12, 2010, 10:13:59 pm
Does anyone have a link to some good photos of changing out a thermostat on a '91 diesel with power steering??? That PS pump is in the way for sure.

Thanks

yeah remove the power steering pump but make sure to keep the lines attached. There will be 5 bolts you need to remove. 2 are vertical and go into the block parallel to the oil pan, 2 are behind the crank pulley and the other one is below the AC (or alt) and runs horizontal, parallel to the crankshaft.

Once that's removed it's just the 2 bolts for the thermostat housing and you're golden.

If you have a look under the car you should be able to see what I am talking about
