Title: Transmission Mount switch
Post by: harchar626 on January 06, 2010, 01:54:04 pm
there are so many abbreviations used by people posting I need a separate window open to google the terms.  i've turned enough wrenches to have the confidence and basic understanding for "major projects" but now i need real help!

I picked up a 84 diesel Jetta for $100.00 and drove it home.  the body is in wretched shape and an eye sore for the rest of the block.  i got the engine out and am ready to put in into a 92 Golf. i got the Golf for $200.00 and it's in great shape but had a a gas engine. (which i also drove home after purchase)  both engines are out and my first hurdle is the transmission mount.  they don't match.

is there a kit, or different transmission, or some other thing i must do to make it work?

 thanks in advance.
  Til next time...  HAHAM

You need to take the brackets off of the Golf transmission and put it onto the Jetta transmission. However, you would be wise to check the codes out at www.scirocco.org/gears (http://www.scirocco.org/gears) to see which one will actually be better.

I don't know how familiar you are with mk1 Jettas but that thing is probably a mini goldmine to the right people.
