Title: Timing belt tension...
Post by: Powered by Spearco on January 03, 2010, 05:06:01 pm
I reset my belt tension and used the belt gauge to set it. Tensioned the belt to 12 on the gauge.
My question is that with the correct belt tension, how much can one twist the belt? 45deg right. With thumb and pinky.
It still seems to tight. Hers some photos.

I have thought, where is the backplate? ;D

If you tighten with the cam and pump locked, it would seem to me that you would realy need to overtighten for that to translate into a too tight belt once the locks are removed?

Did you have the cam pulley loose and the pump unlocked when you tensioned it?
