Title: WTB: downpipe and cat for 96 Passat TDI
Post by: ilikevwdiesel on December 20, 2009, 11:48:48 am
I am going to have to replace the downpipe and cat on the GF's 96 Passat TDI at some point. Does anyone have a GOOD one left over from a part out or know of an economical aftermarket solution? I know these things are oddballs with the 5th injector, I have disabled that by blocking off the fuel line that feeds it. Aren't these cats prone to cracking at the inlet? Should I be looking for a different setup? Any comments are appreciated.

thanks in advance... ;D

IIRC I have a good B4 cat left over from a Vanagon TDI conversion.  It is cut just after the turbo flange, so it will have to be welded on at both ends.  If you're interested you can have it for $50 + S/H.

thx,
justin

I searched for downpipes online, found one at TDiparts.com that looks pretty good. I need a complete unit as I don't have a welder.

thanks anyways...
